Stamp art features an overhead photo of a poinsettia, capturing the green leaves, red bracts, and yellow flowers at the plant’s center.

The poinsettia—Euphorbia pulcherrima—is a small tropical tree native to Mexico, reaching over 10 feet in the wild. While we perceive the colored “petals” as flowers, they are modified leaves called bracts. The poinsettia’s true flower is the cluster of small, yellow, cup-shaped structures at the leaf center.
